To Vermont: Quick Stop at High Falls Gorge

The Parking for the AMR Gate, (Lake Road), Weston/Round and Noonmark trailheads is located off route 73 on the South Ausable Road entrance.
The parking lot hours of operation from May 1st to October 31 are 5:00 AM to 7:00 PM, 7 days a week. Access into or out of the parking lot is restricted to the hours between 5:00 AM and 7:00 PM. No access into or out of the parking lot will be granted prior to 5:00 AM or after 7:00 PM.

Note: For the safety of all, temporarily parking along route 73 or along Ausable Road while waiting to enter the AMR parking lot, or for any other reason is prohibited. No Will Calls. All individuals listed for a reservation must be present when presenting the reservation at the AMR Parking Entrance. Any individuals not arriving with the group will not be admitted.

When you arrive at the entrance to the AMR parking lot, present a printed copy or digital proof of your reservation to the AMR Steward. After verifying your reservation, you will proceed into the parking lot where another steward will direct you to a parking stall and you will be issued your hiking passes.

After you have safely parked, secured your vehicle, and assured you have the proper gear for your hike, you will proceed to Ausable Road past the hiker information kiosk.

Passes will be checked for the Weston/Round Mountain and Noonmark trailheads at the beginning of Ausable Road. Passes to enter the Lake Road trailhead will be checked at the gate to Lake Road.

You will then proceed to the trailheads. The following is the distance to each trailhead from the entrance of the AMR Parking Lot:

Smugglers’ Notch State Park

Activity: MT Mansfield Via Hellbrook Trail; 3.7miles, Sterling pond for Drone Shot if time allows

*Smugglers Notch State Park – The windy road curves through gorgeous lush forest land in the Green Mountains and takes you to a beautiful hiking area. Great for drone shots. You can even take a gondola ride near here that is supposed to be stunning! (Note: the gondola is only available mid-July to mid-October); Long trail (starting at Vermont 108) up to the ridge of Mansfield in Stowe VT or take up the gondola; Mt Mansfield

*Potentially up to Lake Wiloughby to hike Mt Pisgah overlooking Lake Willoughby (4.1miles RT), Camp at White Caps Campground

Stop: Mad River Valley
Duration: 30 mins

To The Town of Pomfret
Activity: Cloudland Road, Woodstock – Elm Grove Farm (also called Sleepy Hollow Farm) which is private property. Make sure you don’t go past the gates without permission and be respectful of the residents!

Stowe, middlebury college snow bowl is amazing and no ones there right now, Middlebury in general, Burlington especially the lake front. And mt Mansfield or camels hump will be super cool with fall colors

**Franconia Ridge Trail (8.5 miles) – Home to Artist’s Bluff which is an easy hiking trail with major views! We spent sunrise up here which was extremely peaceful but I think the colors may be even better with more sunlight. (follow the GPS to 44.1788661, -71.6948606 (which is the trailhead) and then park in the Echo Lake Beach parking lot.) After the hike head to Polly’s Pancake Parlor for the perfect New England diner experience, complete with local maple syrup!

Crawford Notch State Park – Mount Willard which is a moderate 3.2 mile hike with stunning views at the top.

Mt Washington Cog Railway. Here, you can catch an old-school train up to the summit of Mt Washington, the tallest mountain in the northeastern US at 6,289 feet.
